Year of The Cat

Mr Clean With A Difference

That is the title of a report in Khaleej Times today. A story of Raja Anand, a cleaner working for the Fujairah Municipality who starts his day at 5am to reach his work site at 6am and toils there until 6pm with a three-hour midday break. He takes only one hour to have lunch and resumes work.

The title reminds me of someone far away who was some time ago dubbed as Mr Clean. He ain't a cleaner and even though he lives in a government house like Raja Anand who lives in a flat, the house is actually a palace. And definitely his salary is not AED800 per month to start with.

With three ministries and other perks not to mention his son's and son-in-law's wealth, Mr Clean is said to have been cleaning a lot of treasures from the nation's Khazanah under the banner of Hadhori.

That Mr Clean won his first election at helm with sweeping victory. That Mr Clean had promised the whole nation a lot of things like to clean up his government from pestiferous rats, snakes and other pests in corridors of power.

Yet 4 years later, even his own mouthpiece and propaganda machine, the mainstream media hardly calls him Mr Clean. Is it because he is no longer clean to carry the 'clean' surname?

Or because clean means BERSIH in Malay?

Yes, beside series of announcements and launches of economy corridors, now the former Mr Clean did another history breaking feat in the process. The first ever PM to get married while in power. Something that President Nicolas Sarkozy has followed suit.

His former boss claims that there are more pestiferous rats, snakes and other pests alive and kicking in his successor half-past-six cabinet than his own previous cabinet, well, most of these fatty rats, slithery snakes, or even crocodiles, wolves and pigs are originally fed from previous bersih, cekap dan amanah cabinet. Evrybody who cares know that the cabinet, government, ruling political parties and corporate world had been infested with scoundrels and mongrels long time ago.
That New Economic Policy was used as a vehicle, for good and bad intentions. Few won, majority lost in the affirmative world of NEP but the real winners are an elite group members so-called umnoputeras.

Raja Anand, Fujairah's Mr Clean may or may not sleep during his work, but he is only a cleaner. He was not elected to helm a country and has not promised the sky to million of disillusioned people. He lives within his means and does not have to proclaim:-
"It is God's will that I become the Prime Minister of Malaysia and I am very conscious that I have to serve the people although I personally do not benefit even one sen because of this." [...]
"Some of you can say that I'm not good, you can say whatever. But don't say that I don't work."
"I work very hard. I really mean it and you know it.''
As we speak, it is speculated that the parliament would be dissolved after the chinese new year, year of rats. The current general feelings and predictions, even admitted by the former Mr Clean himself, his party will not be able to recapture the resounding victory again.

But we never know since the body which is supposed to conduct fair and free election, SPR is just another tool to ensure the ruling regime is back into power, by hook or by crook.

The election is already in the air, the circus is back in town. The clowns are here to stay with vangeance to celebrate year of the rats.

With more rats and other pests marauding in carridors of power with everything to lose to keep the bounty for another term, we need year of the cat!

The End of The End : TO BEGIN

It was a very good 'workshop' by Ustaz Hasrizal who was on transit in Dubai before flying off to Doha. The four day workshop was compressed into about 3 hours.

I strongly recommend Ustaz Hasrizal for your next 'kem motivasi'. He is not only young and talented but also has a very good understanding of the current Muslim issues, as individuals in this modern age.
